How does it work?

Courses

Our on-line courses are designed to enable individuals to learn in their own time and at their own pace. Each course is broken down into sections allowing the learner to take the time to digest what has been learnt before moving onto the next section.

Each section of the course has a subject heading, which will help learners track what sections they have covered. If a learner needs to leave the course for any reason, they can easily return and resume the course at a convenient time.

Each course has an end of course quiz, which will test the learner on their knowledge of the subject being taught. Learners will need to achieve a specific percentage in order to pass the course and retrieve their certificate. Learners will get three chances to pass the course - if they do not achieve a pass rate after the third attempt the learner will need to repurchase and retake the course.

Supporting Material

Each course is supported by additional training material. This makes our courses more interactive and gives an alternative to just watching what is on screen. Supporting material may come in the form of exercises, handouts or links to useful websites. Most of the supporting material is designed to get learners thinking and will often relate to the section they have just looked at.

Most of our supporting material can be printed out so that learners can refer back to it in the future to further enhance their learning.

Setting up Accounts

Our on-line training courses are accessed via a Learning Management System (LMS). Each learner is provided with a unique username and password, and this forms the basis of each account. By using this LMS system, your organisation can do the following:

  • Create, edit and manage users or groups
  • Allocate and track the use of courses
  • Generate reports and gather statistics on course usage by individual users and groups
  • Export reports into packages such as Excel, so that the information can be used for staff development

The details stored on the LMS allow everything the learner does to be stored against their user name, making it easy to track their progress.

Learners can be set up as individuals but can also be put into groups, which is perfect for larger organisations that need to keep a track on all of their staff. The group structure used will normally match the group structure within your organisation. This means that groups on the LMS will match the locations, branches, departments or project groups in place in your organisation, making reporting on individuals and groups a much more straight forward process.

Organisations can allocate an administrator, who has the rights to set up/edit users and groups. The administrator is usually the person who is responsible for training, such as the training manager or the home manager. As and when courses are purchased from BVS the administrator can allocate these to users within the group that need to undertake that particular course.

BVS staff will set up the initial account for you and depending on your requirements, we can add individual users to your group on your behalf or you can allocate an administrator from your organisation to take on this duty. Whenever you purchase courses from us, we will add the course to your group and the courses can be allocated to the relevant individual users.

Training will be given to customers who wish to become administrators so that they are confident in setting up, editing and adding courses to users. We will also provide a 'managing your training' on-line course that will show you how to do all of the above, which can be referred back to time and time again.
